| Titans fitness team entered the Lejeune USMC "Devil Pup Challenge" shorthanded but willing. Going into the final event of the day, Trask teams had taken second place in the Male Fitness competition and the four-man push-up. They were also a surprise third place finisher in the 10X100 relay event. The male and female tug of war events, then, would decide overall team placement. The girls one participation point was hard earned due to the fact that there were only four girls present for the competition from Trask. Although the Titan females were easy prey for the two 6-girl teams they fell victim to (double elimination), their willingness and their heart was appreciated by the crowd. The guy's easily outpulled the Northside team and outfought a tough North Brunswick squad enroute to the championship pull against Ashley. Ashley's hard fought (5 minute) victory assured their 3d place finish overall with the Titans taking second in Tug of War and fourth in the team standings. |

Thirteen Heide Trask Army Junior ROTC (JROTC) Cadets attended the second cycle Junior Cadet Leadership Course (JCLC) at Clark’s Hill Training Facility near Lake Thurmond, SC; 20 thru 26 June. JCLC at Clark’s Hill provides Cadets training opportunities otherwise unavailable in the classroom such as rappelling, both high and low ropes, canoeing, land navigation, etc. Additionally, Cadets are rotated through leadership positions within their assigned squads, platoons and companies.
At the conclusion of the three day training cycle, Trask Cadets earned numerous awards at each of the three levels of command. Cadet Captain Shane Hobbs led the locals with three Camp level awards. Specifically, Shane won the biathlon by firing a perfect 75 (15 targets) over a mile long course and then winning the sudden death shoot off. | So this huge trophy shows up in the mail. Says "First Place AC-Bragg Raider Challenge" on the plate but, otherwise, it is without explanation. A long 72 hours later we learn that the correction of a scoring error has catapulted the Titan entry into sole possession of first place and that the streamer is "in the mail." This is an accomplishment in which the entire Titan Battalion can take great pride and which represents a tremendous challenge for future Trask Raider participants. Hooah to the competing teams and a special thanks to those who made this competition possible; including COL (Ret)Charles Thornton, LTC (Ret) Tim Gilbert and several members of the Richmond (VA) Public Schools Instructor Group. |
